​​​​​​​Meeting on Shia Fiqh and Iranian Lifestyle in a Nutshell






The meeting on Shia Fiqh and Iranian Lifestyle was held and organized by ISCA on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Dr. Abdulmajid Mobaleghi, faculty member of Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies (IHCS) was the lecturer of this specialized meeting.

Dr. Mobaleghi said that Shia jurisprudence has a special potential to improve the lifestyle and supported this claim by presenting five arguments and provided explanations about it.

Stating that jurisprudence is a comprehensive intellectual system and provides policies on various issues from ethics and mysticism to law and politics, he said, "Iranian intellectual tradition has a long history of interaction with jurisprudence. This tradition can be related to the Islamic period; The era when Iranian philosophers and theologians tried to integrate Islamic teachings in their thought."

The faculty member of IHCS also emphasized that jurisprudence is necessary for understanding Iranian culture and society, adding, "jurisprudence has a framework for understanding values and also provides norms that shape Iranian life."

He said, "Jurisprudence can be used to promote positive social changes. For example, jurisprudence can be used to promote the discourse of sustainable development in returning to the environment as well as promote the discussion of social justice based on the teachings of Islam."

Then, Dr. Mobaleghi mentioned examples of how to use jurisprudence to promote an effective lifestyle in Iran, which showed the practical importance of jurisprudence for the development of Iran. At the end of the meeting, questions were raised by the participants and he answered.
